Dr. Taylor Black, a neurologist and neurosurgeon, has settled on the ISS Amazonas to pursue his studies on restoring the mind in the damaged brain, while at the same time working as a doctor in the giant spaceship’s large sickbay. At the suggestion of a scientist he has met previously, he lands on a desert planet to speak with an old scholar, Colin Bennett, who will reveal to him what is the missing piece to his procedure. Meanwhile, Black’s relationship with the ship’s captain, Edward Wakeman, proves increasingly difficult.
